Between partnerships, placing associates, and facilitating practice purchases and sales, I have helped more than 75 dentists make successful transitions into and out of the dental industry in the last few years. The most important thing for dentists to understand is they MUST have an exit plan, to be prepared for the worst case scenario. Once an exit plan is established, the Henry Schein team can work to increase the value of a practice so the practice is best positioned for a transition down the road. From a practice buyer’s perspective, the most important step is to determine the type of practice the buyer is looking for. As part of this discussion, I run demographics for the area to help select a location that will provide the type of customer base the buyer wants. Depending on the current market, we either look for a practice to buy or we start planning for a new build with Henry Schein’s Design and Equipment teams.
