"Team Schein is a tight knit-group—especially the sales reps. I've met some of my closest friends thanks to my career here and we're involved in each other's lives, personally and professionally. When we heard that our colleague and good friend's sister, who had been battling cancer, was accepted into a clinical trial, we were thrilled for him. But the trial would be lengthy and was located out-of-state—making it financially impossible for his parents to go with her. 'Why don't we raise the money for them?' It was an idea that took hold almost immediately, driving us to reach out to other colleagues within the Company, none of whom hesitated to help. Donations poured in and the funds came together quickly. We called our friend in for a 'meeting' and to his surprise, handed him the money that would allow his family to be together throughout the entirety of his sister's treatment. You don't see people come together like this very often. But then again, these people aren't just colleagues, they're friends." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

"I like to make connections with people, and it's very important to me to bring people together. It's why I joined Human Resources when I first started here at Henry Schein. Now, I'm working with the Business Events Team. I have the honor to play a role in bringing thousands of Team Schein Members together for National Sales Meetings and other events. Over my ten years here, I've met so many people in the Company and have learned about what it means to be one business, "One Schein," globally. So I am always trying to make introductions between TSMs who might not otherwise have met. By making these connections, I feel like I'm making a big difference for Team Schein and for the Company." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
Nasdra Gonzalez, Event Planner North America Business Events Team: Melville, NY 10 years with Henry Schein
"After receiving both my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Commerce from Calcutta University in India, I chose to attend law school. After I finished my first year, I knew I needed to make a change for the betterment of my children. I came upon an opening at Henry Schein Canada and decided with my family that Canada was the right place for us. Henry Schein has been my home away from home for 15 years now. Even when I had an accident, the whole Company rallied around me and my family. That kind of support showed me what this organization is all about. I have no doubt that coming to Henry Schein Canada was the right decision for my family." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
Ratan De'Golder, Administration Coordinator, Mail Room Henry Schein Canada: Concord Branch 19 Years at Henry Schein
"I have a passion for aviation, and as a hobby, I learned to fly small aircraft. I've learned a lot from flying and see many ways that it has impacted how I approach work. For example, when you react to a problem while flying, you have to really look at it from all perspectives and pay attention to the details. But you also have to be flexible. If the weather changes on you while you're in the air, you have to stay calm and think about ways to react to that. It's the same at work. We're a large company and my team interacts with many different departments and suppliers; things can change really quickly. So I'm able to be a little calmer when reacting to challenges. I'm also more adventurous. I am never afraid to discover new ways to improve business and bring forward new ideas. Flying is something that I started just for fun, but I think it has definitely added value to my work." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
Jo Liang, Manager, Business Operations Corporate Commercial Development Group: Melville, NY 2 years with Henry Schein
"Hearing my wife recount her days at Henry Schein left me enamored. Each story provided a glimpse into the Company's culture, and I quickly gleaned that this was a place that cared for its people. The family-like atmosphere she described left me wanting to grow my career there, and while I wasn't aware at the time, my decision to join would impact me forever. Henry Schein regularly offers free wellness exams for a variety of common concerns, and on that particular day, I had chosen to participate in a cardiovascular check. It was going well until the nurse expressed concern for a swollen nodule and encouraged me to get it checked more closely. Cancer is a very difficult diagnosis to hear and an even harder one to process, but thankfully we caught it early. If it weren't for that screening, I might not have been so lucky. I owe so much to this Company—not only my career but my health—and for that I couldn't be more grateful." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
Robert Kivita, Dispatcher Dental Service Hub: Melville, NY 8.5 Years with Henry Schein
"In my role supporting the Medical Group's Leadership Team, I get to interact with so many Team Schein Members, and we learn so much from working with each other. Trying to find solutions to help our customers as we do here, brings you closer together. You become like a family. There have been many memorable moments here, but the one that stands out the most is my wedding day. It was such a "Team Schein" event because so many of my coworkers helped to plan the wedding and make my day special. Team Schein Members took on many different roles. One was my wedding coordinator and Maid of Honor; one decorated the venue and cake; another sang the song to which I walked down the aisle. I couldn't have imagined a more perfect day, and my Team Schein family made it so special." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

"When I started working at Henry Schein in 1982, I immediately knew that this was a company that cared about its employees and their development. As the Company has grown, that feeling of community has not changed. Henry Schein has always provided me with opportunities to advance, and now I have been given the chance to embark on my next adventure—working from home. While I will miss seeing my Henry Schein family every day, I know that the sense of community I've felt since day one here will not change. Henry Schein has always granted me the opportunities to grow and gain the experience needed to develop personally and professionally, and I couldn't be more thankful." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

"I seem to always be in the wrong place at the right time. About 18 years ago I was managing two movie theatres when I was chased with an ax through the parking lot. Long story short, as my manager recommended I get body armor sewn into my suit, I decided it was time to leave. I took a temp job at Henry Schein expecting to be here for two weeks while I was looking for jobs elsewhere, but that two weeks turned into more than 18 years. It's simply a good company to work for. It has a strong foundation in caring, and caring goes a long way for everything. That's something I realized right away when I started here, and it's clear that I ended up where I was meant to be." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

"I seem to have had travel issues my whole life. It can be a nuisance, but there was one trip that 'went wrong' that ultimately changed my life. During a layover in Philadelphia, I met a man who was blind, Albert, and his service dog, Doxy. As you would expect, there were passengers that needed to board the plane first, and Albert and Doxy were in that group. It was a very small propeller plane, and Doxy was under the seat. Being a lab, Doxy was pretty big but behaved very well. I sat next to Albert and we struck up a conversation. He was working with Intuit at the time and was trying to open up accounting jobs to the blind. It was really neat, and we exchanged business cards. Meanwhile, we had been delayed on the tarmac for two hours and the flight attendant was giving Albert a hard time. I don't know why she was singling him out, but if I had to guess, she was probably just fed up with dogs on flights. After two hours, Doxy needed to get out from under the seat to stretch his legs, and that's when the flight attendant threatened to pull Albert and Doxy off the flight. A few moments later, that's exactly what happened. As she, Albert and Doxy went to the front of the plane, we thought we'd hit our limit on the tarmac. I heard the flight attendant ask Albert to get off, claiming he was being belligerent. I can assure you from our conversation that he was not a belligerent man. So when I overheard this, I picked up my cell phone, called him and said, 'Albert, I'm getting up. I'm going to get off the flight with you and drive you home.' I could hear him getting choked up. As we deplaned, the rest of the passengers actually got off in support of Albert and Doxy too. Albert and I still talk to this day. Since that incident, he's become an advocate for blind rights and runs a charity called 'My Blind Spot.'" #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

Part 3
"It was just one of those tough days at work when you need to take a drive to clear your head. I found myself in a part of town I had never been to before. As I was turning around, I noticed a house fire that was quickly spreading to the home next door. Then, I saw a man running into the second house – not out of it – so I parked my car and ran to the door. I could see that the back door was open and I wasn't sure if he was still in the house, so I started yelling to him. I'm about to go into a burning building and it's like, 'OK, the person's not answering me,' so I started shouting out how much time I felt he had until he really needed to get out. Thankfully, he got out as I started letting him know there wasn't much time left.
He came out wearing only sport shorts and carrying some papers he had saved. By this point, a helicopter and a whole bunch of neighbors showed up, and he goes 'Wow, this really doesn't look right. I'm in my shorts and nothing else.' I realized that I could give him my shirt, so I did, along with what I had in my wallet, and my business card in case he needed anything else. Of course, no good deed goes unpunished. As soon as I got into my car, I realized I was out of gas, I'd just emptied my wallet, and I was shirtless. It was just a little funny. He gave me a call a few days later after he'd found my card. He said, 'I keep telling everybody how someone ran into the house, got me out, gave me their shirt and a hundred bucks, and took off. Who does that?' It was nice to hear that things were going well for him, and it sounded like he was on his path to recovery. Looking back, the shirt off the back might have been a little much. As I was handing it to him, I was thinking it was a little cliché, but it was the right thing to do. It was the least I could do." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

Part 4
"People ask how I'm so calm. At work, losing your cool doesn't really get anything done. And in general, when there's an issue for one reason or another, I know getting upset doesn't solve anything. In 2010, I was diagnosed with a brain tumor. It was unexpected, and my doctor had a terrible bedside manner, so I was very upset and mentioned it to my manager. I told her what I was going through and how I couldn't get an appointment with a specialist. My manager had a conversation with friends and colleagues, which led to one of my fellow TSMs getting me an appointment for the following morning. It turned out to be benign, but for the 48 hours that I thought I had a life-threatening brain tumor, I was obviously very stressed. You look at this organization and when you need someone, somebody steps up. It comes naturally for all TSMs, simply because of the culture. Believe it or not, you hear stories like mine from so many people throughout the organization. Whether it's folks with Henry Schein Cares or other groups, everyone digs in and does their part. It just goes to show that this was the right place for me all along." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

"Ever since I picked up a camera, the Milky Way has been something I've wanted to photograph. One night during a vacation, my husband and I drove out to the woods to capture it. I was shooting from the car and during one of the shots, he accidentally stepped on the brakes, lighting the sky red. It turned out to be one of the most incredible photos I've ever taken. Every photo I take challenges me to look at things through a different lens. This is something I try to remember every day at work—to understand the customer, sometimes you need to see things from their perspective. At Henry Schein, I handle group accounts, and when a customer is with a large company, they sometimes worry that they're not going to get the individual attention they want. When I look at it from their perspective, I can understand their concerns and I'm able to reassure them that they're my number one priority. At the end of the day, they always feel confident that we have their best interest at heart." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
