Henry Schein's Back to School program, which was first introduced in 1998, is a program by which Team Schein Members partner with the Company to furnish clothing and school supplies to underserved children in the local areas to lift their spirits and increase their confidence in the classroom. Henry Schein Cares works in partnership with local not-for-profit social service organizations to identify recipients. Over the last 21 years, the Company has expanded Back to School from its inaugural program, which served 75 children, to coordinated programs at sites throughout the world where the Company operates, serving more than 50,000 children since the program's inception.
Team Schein Members contribute their time and money to shop for sponsored children's school clothes while the Company donates all school supplies. Children receive a backpack filled with school supplies, books and hygiene products to make their first day enjoyable and stress-free. At some Henry Schein locations, children receive new outfits for their first day of school. Every year, participating children are invited to Henry Schein facilities for a special party and distribution event where they are presented with their gifts to help make the school year a success.

Henry Schein Helps More Than 5,000 Students Around The World Return To The Classroom Through 21st Annual "Back To School" Program
In 2018, Henry Schein's "Back to School" events took place at 30 company locations in the U.S., Canada, Spain, and Scotland. Participating children were provided with school essentials, including backpacks filled with classroom supplies, books, and hygiene products donated by Henry Schein. At many locations, children also received new first-day-of-school outfits purchased by Team Schein Members (TSMs).
At the company's corporate headquarters in Melville, New York, approximately 500 kids and their families were warmly welcomed by TSM volunteers for a day of music, balloon animals, bounce houses, cotton candy, and more.
"The 'Back to School' program is a big financial help for many of the families we work with, but more importantly, it provides students with the tools they need to meet the challenges of a new school year," said Theresa Sparrow-Gill, Director of Residential Services at Bethany House. "Every child deserves the opportunity to return to school confident in the knowledge that they have the tools to succeed. We are so thankful to have a partner in Henry Schein who understands that, and we thank Team Schein for its commitment to helping families in need."
