Employee Resource Groups ("ERGs")

ERGs support the Company's efforts to attract and retain the best talent, promote leadership and development at all levels, build an internal support system for employees within the Company, and encourage diversity and inclusion among employees at all levels. ERGs serve as an important vehicle to listen to the voice of our TSMs and collect insights that can influence the creation of new and/or changes to existing policies and practices.
We are continuing to expand our ERGs, with input from our Team Schein Members and that align with our business strategy.
Henry Schein currently has four Employee Resource Groups; The Women's Leadership Network ("WLN"), which supports women, Pride and Allies, which supports the LGBTQ+ community, Black Legacy Professionals, which supports the Black community and COLEGAS, which supports the Hispanic and LatinX community.

Diversity & Inclusion Education
Diversity and inclusion ("D&I") is an extension of our Team Schein Values. As an organization we have focused on ensuring that there is an understanding of what Diversity and Inclusion means and how it is a key element to our continued success.
A core component of our formalized education is Henry Schein's Diversity & Inclusion Learning Journey, which was designed to help TSMs develop foundational D&I knowledge and leadership skills to progress the mission of D&I. TSMs are also encouraged to continuously learn from one another and role model behaviors that not only educate others but promote D&I.
Additionally, our Organizational Development team regularly provides development opportunities pertaining to key topics aligned with the mission of Diversity and Inclusion.
To ensure that we attract top talent with diverse backgrounds, the Talent Acquisition team engages with external partners, such as Diversity Jobs, LGBT Network and Stony Brook University Diversity Professional Leadership Network (DPLN).
We believe in "Shaping Henry Schein's Future Together." With this in mind, a global Talent Planning process has been introduced to the organization to support this philosophy. Talent Planning ensures that we have the right talent, in the right positions, at the right time and a strong diverse leadership pipeline.
Supplier Diversity Mission Statement

Diversity fosters innovation, additional perspectives and forges stronger relationships with the communities we serve. We are committed to working with a diverse supplier base to provide our customers with the best selection of products available that meet our stringent quality requirements. It is our practice to actively develop relationships with small disadvantaged businesses, including but not limited to: veteran-owned, service-disabled veteran-owned, HUBZone, LGBTQ, ethnic minority or women-owned small business concerns. At Henry Schein, we believe that the right thing for society is the right thing for business.

"Team Schein is a tight knit-group—especially the sales reps. I've met some of my closest friends thanks to my career here and we're involved in each other's lives, personally and professionally. When we heard that our colleague and good friend's sister, who had been battling cancer, was accepted into a clinical trial, we were thrilled for him. But the trial would be lengthy and was located out-of-state—making it financially impossible for his parents to go with her. 'Why don't we raise the money for them?' It was an idea that took hold almost immediately, driving us to reach out to other colleagues within the Company, none of whom hesitated to help. Donations poured in and the funds came together quickly. We called our friend in for a 'meeting' and to his surprise, handed him the money that would allow his family to be together throughout the entirety of his sister's treatment. You don't see people come together like this very often. But then again, these people aren't just colleagues, they're friends." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

"I consider two places in this world my home: where I live now in Birmingham, U.K., and where I grew up in northern Iraq. Sadly, the rivers that I used to play in as a child have dried up, and Birmingham is one of the most polluted areas in the country. Experiencing the effects of climate change firsthand has inspired me to help the planet, ensuring future generations get to experience the magnificence of this Earth. Sustainability can be intimidating, but understanding your impact is a great first step. Did you know that plastic takes around 450 years to decompose? It's surreal, but all those disposable cups and utensils you've used are still out there somewhere. While ditching your single-use water bottle might seem like an insignificant change, it creates a huge ripple. Luckily for us, sustainability is more accessible than ever before, with brands from every industry becoming more eco-friendly. It's no different at Henry Schein. In my short time with the Company, I've seen how far we've come in reducing our negative contributions to the planet. It takes all of us, but sustainability doesn't have to mean sacrifice. There's nothing to lose but so much to gain." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

"I had just graduated high school and was eager to begin earning money of my own. As I learned my day-to-day responsibilities, my supervisor was very patient, always making sure that I had the support necessary to succeed. That was 37 years ago, and I'll never forget where I came from in this Company. Having experienced firsthand how patience can raise someone up — it's molded how I interact with and manage others today. There have been plenty of instances throughout the years where we have had a team member who wants to do well and succeed, but for individual reasons, they aren't able to get a handle on the work. Instead of leaving them to figure it out on their own, we always take the time to go through the process step by step, and that small amount of extra time typically leads to success. Having the ability to connect with others on a human level, working through challenges together — that's why I've been here for 37 years." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

"I immediately knew that I had made a great career choice when I joined Henry Schein 11 years ago. From day one, I felt welcomed for who I was and never doubted whether I could be my authentic self. When I found out the Company was creating an LGBTQ+ employee resource group (ERG), I wanted in! Now, it's an honor to serve on the leadership team for the Pride & Allies ERG, which provides various educational programs for our members on topics that affect both LGBTQ+ Team Schein Members (TSMs) and their allies. Henry Schein's culture is genuinely welcoming and inclusive, and I hope to show my fellow TSMs why I've grown to respect and love this Company." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

"It's almost incomprehensible to stand on top of a mountain. To look out across the horizon, knowing what you just conquered — you almost can't put words to the sense of awe you feel. And it's not just admiration for the vastness of nature, but the respect you gain for yourself. You never realize what you're able to accomplish until it's done. Four years ago, I decided to take a leap of faith, abandoning my comfort zone to join Henry Schein. It can seem impossible in your first few weeks, if not months, at a new job. Getting acquainted with both the company and your new role while laying the foundation for strong relationships can be an overwhelming prospect. Fortunately, the people here are not only welcoming but want to help you succeed. Looking back, I feel like I'm conquering something great — it was the best decision I could have made." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

"If I had the opportunity, I would tell my younger self to embrace uncertainty. While I firmly believe in taking chances, I also know it's wise to look before you leap. Learning from those who have experience beyond your own helps you make better decisions. My career has been profoundly impacted by my network, but one mentor at Henry Schein stands out. She was — and still is — a phenomenal role model who has encouraged me to be authentic and bold, make mistakes and then bravely make some more. Her guidance and advice have been formative in how I define my own leadership style. Being a woman in business today is both a responsibility and a privilege, and I certainly plan to pay it forward!" #IAMTEAMSCHEIN #WomenWhoSchein #WomensHistoryMonth #BreakTheBias

"As a parent, it can be difficult to maintain work-life balance, but the pandemic has brought my family and I closer than ever, despite spending most of the day in separate rooms. As a manager, my team is a little farther away — in fact, I've never been more physically distanced from them. It was a little nerve wracking at first. We had no idea how our team dynamic would shift after moving to remote work, but my concerns quickly melted away. It has been inspiring to watch each of my fellow friends and colleagues rally around each other and our customers during this insanely challenging and demanding time. The pandemic has brought about unimaginable hardships, but it has also fostered stronger connections, both personally and professionally. It really feels like there's nothing we can't overcome when we work together." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

"Did you know the biggest industry in Nashville is health care? It's funny — in college, I wanted a career in music, but I moved here 10 years ago because of my role in the medical industry. It was hard to resist after traveling here frequently for work. Henry Schein has always supported me to go after what I want, and the move was no different. Throughout my 26-year career here, they've given me every opportunity to grow. I've had many roles and even more bosses — 14 in total so far. Working for a variety of people with different management styles has molded who I am as a leader today. I never set out to work in health care, but I love where it's taken me." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN

"I was young when I got my first computer — a Windows Millennium Edition. With no idea how to get it set up, my neighbor helped me get started so I could play video games with one of their children. It was an early lesson in how technology could connect people. As I grew up, I realized I wanted to turn my passion for technology into a career in IT. With no real experience or degree, I expected to land an entry-level position, working on the same type of task each day. Instead, I found myself with a career path at Henry Schein. The work is diverse enough that over the past two years, no two days have been the same. I handle so many different issues throughout each day that I've honed my capability to listen. That ability to hear what a customer says and translate it into the correct solution has really helped me grow in this profession." #IAMTEAMSCHEIN
