Dental Waterline Testing & Test Kits

What Can You Do to Maintain Safe Waterlines?

To ensure water is safe, OSAP recommends:

  1. Using water that meets EPA regulatory standards for drinking water (i.e., ≤ 500 CFU/mL of heterotrophic water bacteria) for routine dental treatment output water.
  2. Consulting with the dental unit manufacturer for appropriate methods and equipment to maintain the quality of dental water.
  3. Following recommendations for monitoring water quality provided by the manufacturer of the unit or waterline treatment product.
  4. Using sterile saline or sterile water as a coolant/irrigant when performing surgical procedures.

3 Steps to Safe Water:

1. Shock First!

Shocking your waterlines enables continuous treatment products to work most effectively. Shock at least every 90 days for best results.

2. Use Continuous Treatment!

Continuous waterline treatments are specially formulated to inhibit re-growth of bacteria. Follow each products instruction carefully to ensure proper use.

3. Test Quarterly!

Testing and monitoring of your waterline safety is the only way to ensure that you are meeting the EPA standard for safety. Test at least quarterly/every 90 days.
