What is MARSI and how does it impact patients?

Medical Adhesive Related Skin Injury (MARSI), occurs when the stickiness connecting an adhesive tape and skin is stronger than the surface cells, causing the epidermis to separate from the dermis¹ when the tape is removed.

MARSI can cause pain, increase the risk of infection and delay healing – all of which can reduce a patient’s quality of life.²

Everyone requiring a medical adhesive is at risk of MARSI, with risk increasing with frequency of exposure.¹

Which Securement Solutions Should I Choose?

Solventum understands the impact securement solutions and clinical practice can have on both patients and your facility. That’s why Solventum helps simplify your selection by offering each type of securement to meet your needs.

Learn more about Solventum Medical Securement Solutions.

According to the Medical Adhesives and Patient Safety: State of the Science consensus statements, the foremost consideration when selecting an adhesive product is intended use or purpose.² In most facilities, Solventum finds that securement needs fall into four basic classes. That’s why we’ve made it easy to choose the right product for each patient and application, with four classes of securement that address typical needs in most facilities, and that can help you achieve positive patient outcomes.

Solventum product core colors and packaging align with these classes to make it easy for you to find the right solution tailored to your specific clinical requirements.

You can be sure that our four best-in-class products can help provide effective clinical performance, minimize skin damage and reduce cross-contamination risk.
